Law Enforcement Protocols

HERO Matchmaker is an 18+ dating service. Members include military, fire, EMS, other first responders, and people who stand with them. We are not a vendor to police departments, and we do not sell tools or data to law enforcement.

This page is our protocol for lawful requests from law enforcement. We cooperate with valid legal process. We do not hand over member information without it, except in a true emergency as described below.

How to submit a request

  1. Use Contact Us. Set the subject to “Law enforcement request.”
  2. Send it from an official agency email address.
  3. Include the agency name, case number, requesting officer or agent, and a copy or description of the legal process (subpoena, court order, or search warrant).
  4. Name the member as clearly as you can (email, profile name, or user id).

What we require

We respond to a valid subpoena, court order, or search warrant issued by a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States. Informal emails, phone calls, or social-media messages are not enough.

What we can provide

When the legal process requires it, we may provide account details we actually hold — such as the email on the account, profile information the member entered, and messages stored on the service. We do not have payment-card numbers (those stay with Stripe). We do not invent or guess information we do not have.

Emergencies

If there is an imminent risk of death or serious bodily harm, an agency may mark the Contact Us note as an emergency and include the facts that show the risk. We will review those requests as quickly as we reasonably can. An emergency request still needs an official agency email.

Preservation

If you need us to hold records while you obtain legal process, say so in the request and include a case number. We will preserve available records for a reasonable period.

Notice to members

We may notify a member that we received legal process about their account, unless the process or applicable law forbids notice, or notice would create a genuine safety risk.
