Can anyone join?+
Yes. HERO Matchmaker is open to military, law enforcement, fire, EMS and other first responders, and the people who stand with them. Anyone 18 or older who wants to match with a hero is welcome.
How does matching work?+
Open Discover. Swipe right to like, left to pass, or up to Super Like. When you both like each other, you match and can start a conversation in Messages.
How do I know someone served?+
Members list their service, branch, and rank on their profile, and many include uniform photos. Treat that as a starting point, not a background check. If you choose to meet, verify what matters to you in person and take the usual safety steps.
How do I add or change photos?+
Go to Profile, choose a photo, and crop it to a square. You can replace it any time. Name is always public; other fields can be shown or hidden.
How do I edit my profile?+
Everything lives on Profile. Fields are filled in when we can — from your sign-in, for example — and you can change them. Save under Bio, then again after the optional details if you add those.
Who can I look for?+
On Profile, set who you want to meet: men or women, service type, and a distance. Those choices power the filters on Discover. You can change them whenever you want.
How do I send a message?+
Match first, then open Messages and tap the conversation. You can read someone’s profile before and after you match.
Are my messages kept forever?+
No. We may clear old conversations over time. Don’t count on chat as a permanent archive.
Someone is bothering me. What can I do?+
On a profile, tap the small menu at the bottom and choose Report or Block. In a conversation, the same menu is next to their messages. Block is quiet — they will not be told. Reports go to the review queue.
How do I delete my account?+
Open Profile and use Delete account at the bottom. That removes your profile, matches, and messages. If you get stuck, write to us from Contact Us.
Why was my account closed?+
We enforce the Terms of Use. Common reasons include being under 18, impersonation, harassment, spam, or posting content that isn’t allowed. If you think that was a mistake, Contact Us.
I can’t sign in.+
Use the same Google or X account you joined with. If a popup is blocked, allow it and try again. Still stuck? Contact Us and tell us which sign-in you used.
Are the people here real?+
You can match with both real members and demo profiles. Demo and AI-generated accounts are marked Beta. Those profiles exist so you can try matching and chat during beta; they are not looking to meet in person. There is no guarantee of a date. Use the same caution you would on any dating app.
